The FEGUŠ STRING QUARTET has been performing since 1992, it’s members are brothers: Filip and Simon Peter – violin, Andrej – viola, and Jernej – cello. They started their educational path at the Maribor Music Conservatory after which their studies continued at the State Conservatory of Carinthia in Klagenfurt (Austria).

In 2001, the Feguš String Quartet was accepted for the study of chamber music at the prestigious private school »Scuola di Musica di Fiesole« (Florence, Italy) under the mentorship of Milan Škampa (Smetana Quartet) and Piero Farulli (Quartetto Italiano), as well as Andreo Nannoni (Nuovo Quartetto), until the year 2007. For their studies they also received a stipendum from the Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

In June 2012 the Quartet completed their Masters programme of Chamber Music at the »Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz« with Stephan Goerner (Carmina Quartet) and they achieved the academic titles of Masters of Arts.

They have upgrated their knowledge at numerous international master classes conducted by members of world – reknowned quartets: Alban Berg Quartet, Amadeus Quartet, Borodin Quartet, Emerson Quartet, Juilliard Quartet, LaSalle Quartet, Guarneri Quartet, as well as others.

In 2001 the Feguš String Quartet qualified for the »Isaac Stern Chamber Music Workshop« at Carnegie Hall (New York) under the leadership of the legendary violinist Isaac Stern and members of the best American Quartets.

They have participated at the Orlando Festival, Kerkrade in the Netherlands, Festival Pablo Casals in Prades, France, the Festival »Strings Only!« in Zadar, the International Festival of Young Musicians »DAM« in Priština, and others.

They have held concerts throughout Slovenia, Europe and the USA (Paris, Berlin, London, Washington, New York, Florence, Vienna itd.)

They have recorded for Radio Slovenia, Radio Maribor, ARD, ORF, France Musique. World premieres have been performed of both Slovene and foreign composers: P. Ramovš, A. Lajovic, M. Feguš, J. Golob, D. Močnik, A. Weingerl, Č.S. Voglar, K. Aliçkaj, K. Gashi, D. Zeqiri, S. Spadini.

In 2006 they released a CD of works by L. Janáček and M. Ravel and in 2011 a CD of works by A. Webern and H. Wolf.

Their hometown has also given them special recognition for their work: they received the City Seal of Maribor and Glazer’s Charter for accomplishments in the cultural arena. In Piran they also receieved an award for the best performance of Tartini’s work.
